These two pages of a letter from my mother to my father in their early years of separation is made into two complementary volumes. Where there is a depression in the first page on the right (Persian is written from right to left) it corresponds to the text translated as the title. The “deep absence” is then emphasized in the second page on the left by the complementing protrusion.
