Most of the images in this ongoing series belong to the works created for the two-person exhibition at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles titled: Displacements: The Craft Practices Of Golnar Adili And Samira Yamin curated by Arash Saedinia.
Inspired by my father's collection of photos, letters and travel documents I meditate on diasporic longing and in ways in which our personal lives and connections were severed due to larger political turmoil. In the gallery I set the actual immigration travel documents, photos and letters from which the works presented are inspired from alongside the art pieces to give context to the narrative. This exhibition was reviewed by Abe Ahn in Hyper Allergic: Meditiaonts In Longing
