The works presented here is the first of an ongoing investigation of a letter my mother wrote to my father after he had fled persecution in Iran over twenty-seven years ago. Each work is a structural study informed by the emotional content of the letter. Dissecting and enlarging is as much part of the process as is layering and erasure. Here, I am investigating the letter “ye” which is the most expressive element in the letter formally, and happens to be the last letter of the Farsi alphabet.
